Sheila Fowler
Sheila Fowler is a Glasgow-based artist with a strong background in fine art. In her work she uses a palette knife that yields an impasto effect that in turn creates the wonderfully rich and lavish texture that renders the artwork and its colours particularly lively and bright.
Drawn to the Hebridean Isles for inspiration, her work captures the untamed beauty of Scottish rugged coastline -- its numerous sandy beaches neighboured by marram grass, and the surrounding sea in a variety of shades, from indigo to turquoise. However, Fowler's work is not limited to the coastline alone; she also wonderfully portrays Scottish wildflowers, such as thistles, and meadow flowers, such as poppies, so pertinent to its countryside.
