Jennifer Thomson

Jennifer has been creating wonderful pieces, inspired by Scottish towns and cities, for over 20 years, with a lot of her work based on Edinburgh as well as East Fife and St Andrews.

Thomson populates her prints with lively characters that adds to the overall vivacity of the compositions. For instance, in the 'A Windy Walk on West Sands' print, Jennifer includes a group of runners in white uniforms moving along the beach, a nod to the 'Chariots of Fire' that was filmed in St Andrews, thus aptly reflecting on the city's cultural legacy.

'My aim as an artist is to capture the special moments in life, when there is a strong sense of connection and a feeling of everything being right with the world. I paint what inspires me in the only way I know how ... what inspires me the most is love, love of places, people,  animals and birds, too.'

'Very simply what I aim to express is the joy of being part of this amazing world, celebrating our happiest moments as part of the whole. For me, promoting love, happiness and well-being is the most valuable thing that I can contribute as an artist.'
